To enforce New York State Building Codes, as well as enforcement of Village Ordinances. If you are planning on doing any work on your home, please check to see if a building permit is needed. Permits are needed for additions, sheds, swimming pools-above or inground, porches,decks, fences, garages and other projects. If you are doing work without a permit the Codes Enforcement Officer has the authority to place a "Stop Work Order" on your project which will prevent you from continuing the project until the proper paperwork is completed and permits issued.
